Technical Principles

In the absence of an electric field, the electronically controlled PDLC Smart Film is in an opaque state. When an alternating current is applied, the liquid crystal molecules are arranged in an orderly manner, at which point the PDLC Film changes from an opaque state (OFF) to a transparent state (ON).

PE Protective Film: This outermost layer serves as a shield during transportation and installation, protecting the inner components from scratches and contaminants.

PDLC Layer: The core of the smart film, composed of liquid crystal droplets dispersed in a polymer matrix. When an electrical current passes through, the liquid crystals align, rendering the film transparent. When the current is off, the crystals scatter light, creating an opaque appearance.

OCA Glue: Optically Clear Adhesive (OCA) is used to bond the layers together with high optical clarity, ensuring no loss of transparency or distortion.

Silica Gel Layer: This self-adhesive layer allows for straightforward installation on glass or other smooth surfaces. The silica gel provides a strong yet removable bond, ensuring the film can be repositioned or replaced without leaving residue.

ITO Conductive Film (First Layer): A thin, transparent conductive coating made of Indium Tin Oxide (ITO). This layer facilitates the electrical conductivity required to control the liquid crystals.

ITO Conductive Film (Second Layer): Another ITO layer ensures uniform conductivity across the film, working in tandem with the first conductive layer.


PET Layer: This durable yet flexible plastic layer provides structural support and acts as a carrier for the functional components of the film.

PET Release Film: The innermost layer, removed during installation, protects the adhesive side of the film and ensures its quality before application.
